Use our WTVM weather app to track remaining rain and storms tonight. Nothing severe or damaging is expected, but this is the kind of rainy weather that can slow down a commute or cancel a sports practice. We will be back on the TV side later with more on the drier and hotter days ahead. -Meteorologist Derek Kinkade WTVM | WTVM Weather

Quick update on the snowfall chances through our area...I've pushed our timing back an hour to 4 AM given a quicker transition to snow and made a few tweaks to the areas. Locations south of an Eufaula to Ellaville line stand the best chance of seeing minor accumulations on grassy areas in the early morning. There could perhaps be some slushy areas if the snow is heavy enough, but the warm conditions today will make snow difficult to stick on asphalt and pavement. Elsewhere, mainly wet roadways w

Two more quiet and relatively warm days today and tomorrow before the much-advertised cold front makes its way through our area. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s both days this weekend; we'll start in the 60s on Monday but will likely end the day sharply colder, on the way to lows in the 20s for the last two mornings of 2025. Temperatures will swing from 10-20 degrees above seasonal averages this weekend to some 10-15 degrees BELOW to end the year. -Meteorologist Dana Barker | WTVM Weather

4:35 PM UPDATE: * We’ve been live on the WTVM News Leader 9 page for awhile. And on TV. Working on the other stream situation. * The highest winds and tornado risk is shifting to the far eastern parts of Talbot Couty, tracking into parts of Taylor and Upson Counties next. * Heavy rain and flooding will be a concern, even in areas where the strongest winds have passed by. Stay alert! -Meteorologist Derek Kinkade WTVM | WTVM Weather

12:09 AM ET Radar Update: The line of storms is pushing its way into and through our GA counties at the moment. Quick update on the severe weather threat: we're monitoring a line of strong to severe storms in western Alabama just west of Selma. On its present course and speed, it may move into our East Alabama counties as soon as 10:30-11 AM CT and then across areas just north of Columbus by the 1 PM ET timeframe. It has a long way to go before it gets here, and it's not guaranteed that it will maintain its strength as some of the better dynamics start to pull away later this afternoon. Nonetheless, keep

While we have a risk of severe weather overnight tonight into Sunday morning from midnight to 10 AM, our tornado threat will be much lower than areas to our west. Note the EHI (energy-helicity index, or what I like to say, a "nerd term" for the combination of energy and spin in the atmosphere to promote tornadoes) is very high to our west this evening over Mississippi and western Alabama but is lower once the line arrives in our neck of the woods after midnight. Still, though, be alert for stron

Weather update for your Sunday and Memorial Day: there will be more rain-free parts to the next two days than rainy parts. That being said, there will be at least a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm to pop up at any point in time between now and Tuesday evening. The better chance of rainfall will come later this evening into the overnight and again late in the afternoon and evening on Memorial Day. Main idea of the story: don't cancel your outdoor holiday weekend plans for today and tom

While we may see isolated showers and thunderstorms this evening, we're expecting them to behave as the atmosphere has been really zapped of its energy from the strong storms earlier in the day. Rain chances go to near zero the next couple of days as a ridge briefly takes hold, sending high temperatures back into the lower 90s as well. A cold front will move through our area by the middle of the week, bringing another shot of storms but also a shot of much drier, cooler air behind it. Widespread

Our newest warning goes until 11:30 AM EDT including parts of Schley, Marion, and Sumter counties as the line of strong to severe thunderstorms continues to take a right turn and move ESE. While the core of the strongest winds is just south of Macon and Warner Robins, we can still see isolated gusty winds and a few areas of wind damage in the warned area as the line sags south and also as isolated cells such as the one about to cross into Fort Benning from Russell County move east.
